Learn about establishment of Fort Bliss on Lanoria Mesa, operations during the Mexican Revolution, World War l, the activation of the 1st Cavalry Division and its operations on the border until World War II, and the establishment of the anti-aircraft training center and its operations during World War ll. This will cover decision-making processes, why the cavalry was here and its dismounting, and why the post was an anti-aircraft training post. This is a single lecture on 4/6.

John Hamilton
John Hamilton served as an Army infantry officer from 197'l to 1994. He Served in the United States,Germany, Egypt, Panama, and briefly on the island of Grenada. After retirement, he was the Air Defense
Artillery Command Historian from 2004 to 2009, He served as the director of the Fort Bliss Museum from 2015
to 2017. He has a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M and a master's degree from University of Southern
California.
