The Chihuahuan Desert Gardens at UTEP contain a variety of plants that are useful for people. These uses include food, cordage and clothing, and all sorts of medicines. Join us on a leisurely stroll through the gardens to learn about some of these plants and their uses for historic and prehistoric peoples. Meet at the main entrance of UTEP’s Centennial Museum. This field trip is on 4/18.

Eric Kappus
Dr. Eric Kappus is a Biology/Geology Professor at Southwest University at El Paso. He is also a Research Associate Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso, a research Paleontologist for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, and president of the 501 (c)(3) Celebration of our Mountains. Dr. Kappus researches trace fossils in the El Paso region, where he has reported over 35 different types, including dinosaur footprints.
