Shinping Chyi

“El Paso” Ai-Hwa Chinese Language School has been continuously providing quality traditional Chinese education since 1998. The predecessor of the school, “El Paso Chinese Language School”, operated from 1990 to 1995 under the direction of Mrs. Anne Liu.  Current principal, Mrs. Shinping "Champagne" Chyi, has been taking the helm of the school for over twenty years.  In May 2004, Ai-Hwa was incorporated as a nonprofit organization and donations can be tax deductible.

With curriculum focusing on phonetics and traditional Chinese characters, the school provides weekly 3-hour classes for small groups of students to listen, speak, read, and write in Chinese; as well as activities, such as drama, singing, dancing, calligraphy and Tai Chi. Also, extracurricular programs are organized to enrich students’ experiences in traditional Chinese culture, such as celebrating Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Moon Festival each year with crafts, recitals and food.  The students receive a well-rounded emersion in Chinese language and culture.

Parents of beginning students are encouraged to participate in entry class to have a better understanding of the language and the ability to assist their children in studying and completing homework.
