Discover the Japanese language through interactive lessons, games, music, anime and manga culture, and real-world conversation practice. This youth-focused course introduces students to basic speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Japanese while building confidence in communication and cultural understanding.Students will learn essential vocabulary and everyday expressions, practice simple conversations.

Fernando Yamamoto
Fernando Yamamoto studied linguistics in Marketing at The University of Texas at El Paso. He lived in Shizuoka, Japan and is an active member of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese. He now teaches Japanese language and culture to adults and youth using different activities to motivate his students. A list of activities for the past several years includes the following:- In 2018, 102 participants from different Texas schools and universities participated in the Nengajo Contest held by the Japan-America Society of Dallas-Fort Worth for the traditional Japanese New Year's post card. Yamamoto's students won artistic, creative and humor awards.
- In 2019, Yamamoto was honored with an invitation to the Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C.
- In 2020, his students participated in the annual National Japanese Exam, achieving an average score of 88/100.
- A thousand origami paper cranes were made by Japanese language students to honor victims of violence in El Paso; these were admitted into permanent exhibition at the El Paso Museum of History in 2021.
- In 2022, Yamamoto's students successfully obtained Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) certifications and some have been admitted into the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program.
