Student in this class are already comfortable in speaking to each other in Chinese. Students will learn more vocabulary and emphasis will be in reading and writing Chinese.
Students will also be exposed to Chinese traditions and culture through cultural and academic activities. Continued participation of children and parents is expected. Once a student (child age 5 to adults) is signed up for the program, maximum effort of attendance is expected. Students will be promoted to a higher level after one semester of study with a satisfactory performance.
Pre-requisite is Fundamental Chinese II (vocabulary of around 700 words) or with equivalent level of Chinese language proficiency approved by the teacher/principal.

El Paso Chinese School
El Paso's Ai-Hwa Chinese Language School has provided quality traditional Chinese education for several decades. The school operated as "El Paso Chinese Language School" from1990 to 1995 under the direction of Anne Liu. It has been operating under its current name since 1998 with Shinping "Champagne" Chyi as its leader. In May 2004, Ai-Hwa was incorporated as a nonprofit organization and now offers tax-deductible donations. The curriculum focuses on phonetics and traditional Chinese characters and provides weekly classes for small groups of students to listen, speak, read, and write in Chinese. Students can also participate in activities and extracurricular programs that expose them to Chinese culture.
