In this course, our aim is to acquaint parents and children with essential swimming skills, emphasizing safety as a priority. These skills encompass becoming comfortable in the water environment, introducing both front and back positions while in the water, and a variety of techniques such as entering the water, exhaling bubbles while at the surface, exploring underwater, perfecting front and back floats and glides, executing leg movements on both the front and back, and much more.
Note: Children must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian.

Your account profile must show the P3 Pool ID Card Membership either in your cart or in your account history. Once verified in your cart or account history, you'll be able to add the swimming course to your cart for payment.
Please be aware that all participants are required to purchase a new Pool ID Card. Pool ID Cards from previous years will not be valid.
All swimming pool participants must purchase a P3 Pool ID Card to enter the Student Recreation Center.
P3 Pool ID Card is a one-time non-refundable fee of $15.

Registration will be closed 5 days prior to the beginning of the class.
P3 Pool ID Card:
All swimming pool participants must purchase a P3 Pool ID Card to enter the Student Recreation Center. The P3 Pool ID Card can be used for future paid swimming courses as long as it is for the same person. The P3 Pool ID Card is offered for a one-time fee of $15. If the card is lost, the participant will have to pay a replacement fee of $15.
Purchased cards will be provided on the first day of the class. Access to the Student Recreation Center will be granted only to those who have registered for the swimming course and pre-paid for their card.
Payment cannot be made at the Student Recreational Center.
If you are not able to attend the first day of class, you must pick up your P3 Pool ID card at the Professional and Public Programs office located at Memorial Gym, Room 111, between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday, in order to access the Student Recreation Center facility.
Important Notice:
P3 Pool ID cards:
- Usable ONLY during the times and dates of the purchased course
- Activated 15 minutes prior to their scheduled course
- Grants access only to the swimming pool area and not other areas in the Student Recreation Center
- Participants WILL NOT BE ALLOWED access to the facility without their pool ID card
Swimming Pool Policies:
- Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by their parent or guardian AT ALL TIMES
- Participants and their guardians only have access to the pool. Participants will adhere to the starting and ending times of scheduled courses.
- Participant's access to the Student Recreation Center is only for course use and within a range of 15 minutes prior to and following each course session.
- Only 2 guardians are allowed per minor participant for P3 swimming courses.
- Access to other parts of the Student Recreation Center is not permitted.
- No running, excessive splashing, horseplaying, wrestling, pushing, throwing, or dunking is allowed.
- Children who are not fully potty trained must use a proper swim diaper.
- Wear appropriate swim attire; no cut-offs.
- Prolonged underwater swimming for a distance is NOT ALLOWED.
- Kickboards, pull buoys, and fins are to be used by lap swimmers ONLY.
- Non-swimmers or weak swimmers must remain in the Recreational Pool.
- No hanging on lane lines.
- No hanging from the volleyball net or basketball rim.
- No gum, food, or beverages of any kind (except water) are allowed.
- Swim Friendly---share a lap swimming lane when all lanes are occupied.

Sophia Duron, a highly motivated and dedicated individual with a Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion with a minor in Nutrition at The University of Texas at El Paso. Her journey in swimming began during her high school years at Del Valle High School, where she actively participated in Competitive Swimming, earning multiple awards for sports and academic excellence. With over 5 years of lifeguarding experience, including her role as Head Lifeguard at the City of El Paso, she has honed her skills in water rescue, emergency response, and pool management. Throughout her tenure at UTEP's Recreational Sports Department, she maintained a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and excellent communication. Her passion for swimming extends beyond lifeguarding, as she find joy in teaching and coaching, instilling valuable life skills in future swimmers. With certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, Lifeguarding, and additional skills in customer service, conflict resolution, and leadership, she is committed to contributing positively to the world of aquatics.Gina Guido

She holds an Associate in Science in Kinesiology from Central Texas College and boasts certifications in Water Safety Instruction, First Aid/CPR/AED Instruction, and memberships in professional associations like the American Sports and Fitness Association.
