The medicolegal death investigator is the fundamental gate keeper to accumulate pertinent information for the pathologist to accurately determine cause and manner of death. This information is essential for vital records, insurance claims, and criminal prosecution.
If you want to be in this field or are just a curious murder mystery book/film fan, this course will prepare you to understand the death process, what happens to the body when we die, how to determine the time of death, distinguish between manner of death which is characterized as natural, accident, suicide, homicide and undetermined. This can include how to classify such incidents as gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, drug overdoses, and more. The key to accumulating this information will be the systemic process of on-scene investigations through photography, observation, and interviewing key individuals. This culminates in a comprehensive report and well-written report.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion.
This course follows the guidelines of the ABMDI organization and will prepare you to sit for the Board Certification Examination.
